New Rules by Viktor Yanukovych

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Resolution from 11.07.2007 № 917

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued a resolution, " On Changes in the Regulations on the Entry and Stay of Foreign Nationals and Stateless Persons into Ukraine, Their Exit from Ukraine and Transit Through the Territory of Ukraine," on July 11. The resolution took effect on July 26 and substantially changed the regulations on the entry and stay of foreigners issued by the President Viktor Yushchenko in 2005.
According to the previous resolution, citizens of the above mentioned countries could stay in Ukraine without a visa for 90 days, after which they only could step out of the country and return to receive an additional 90 day visa-free stay.
Now, foreign citizens of the above mentioned countries are allowed to enter Ukraine as before without a visa but showing their valid passport. Overall duration of their stay must not exceeed 90 calendar days per 180 calendar days from the arrival date. To say it in another words, they cannot stay in Ukraine for longer consecutive periods by crossing the border every three months.
Goverment's web-site says the reason for it is to cut illegal immigration though Ukraine.
Show Your Money! Brrr.... scary!
In this regulation The Cabinet of Ministers also requires the confirmation of the financial eligibility for foreigners to stay in Ukraine. The control of the financial eligibility must be carried out at the border. All those, entering the country, must have finances in the 20-multiple size of a living wage (about 2 thousand dollars), prescribed in Ukraine on the day of their arrival, per every month of stay or for the term of stay less than of one month.
BUT, government officials say the resolution yet to be enforced and still being developed by the Foreign Ministry and the Border Guards.
