Low-cost airline Wizz Air Ukraine will open the Ukrainian third base at the end of April 2014 – in Lviv, noted the company’s press service.
“Wizz Air Ukraine, the first Ukrainian low-cost airline, announced the opening of its third Ukrainian base in Lviv from April 30, 2014. At first one Airbus A320 aircraft will be based in Lviv. Thus, the airline’s investment in the region will amount to $80 million,” the press service reported.
Wizz Air Ukraine also announced the opening from the beginning of the summer season of five new flights – to Naples, Rome (Italy), Valencia, Barcelona Girona (Spain) and Kutaisi. Thus, the new aircraft will serve eight routes (Wizz Air currently performs flights from Lviv to Venice Treviso, Dortmund and Milan Bergamo). It is expected that the airline will carry 300,000 passengers in 2014.
Wizz Air is a low-cost airline, headquartered in Vecses (Pest Country, Hungary). The company mainly operates in Central and Eastern Europe. Wizz Air Ukraine began its work in May 2008. It conducts flights from Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Simferopol. Wizz Air Ukraine currently has a base at Kyiv International Airport. On October 1, 2013, the airline plans to open its second Ukrainian base – in Donetsk – and increase its fleet to four.
