Photo of Swallow's Nest Castle Was Selected by National Geographic as Best of January 2014

Photo made by Jane Sweeney, professional photographer, who has visited over 120 countries, of the neo-Gothic Swallow’s Nest castle was selected by National Geographic as Best of January 2014 – Best of Travel 365.

Swallow’s Nest castle is located in Crimea near Yalta on the Black Sea coast in southern Ukraine. It is built on the top of Aurora Cliff and perches 130 feet (about 40 meters) above the Black Sea. Built by a German noble in 1912, the flamboyant seaside residence is now a popular tourist destination.
Crimea peninsula offers beaches, skiing, diving, mountaineering and tasty wine, as well as lots of places for sightseeing including castles, palaces, caves, monasteries and ruins of Greek cities. According to National Geographic, Crimea was among the top 20 travel destinations in 2013.

Автор знімку – професійний фотограф Джейн Суіні, яка відвідала понад 120 країн світу.

Зазначимо, що українська пам’ятка побудована в 19 столітті і знаходиться на висоті 40-ка метрів над рівнем Чорного моря. Наразі замок зачинений на реставрацію. Але це не є перешкодою для туристів, які їдуть з усього світу, аби помилуватися красою “Ластівчиного гнізда”.
