Flydubai plans to launch flights from Dubai to Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv and Simferopol.
Flydubai’s Senior Vice President Jeyhun Efendi said this at an air show in Dubai, avianews.com reported.
He said that Dnipropetrovsk is a priority for 2014, whereas Lviv and Simferopol are viewed as a prospect. “Lviv is located at a greater distance than other airports for cost-effective use of aircraft,” the airline’s top manager said.
Earlier, Flydubai announced the launch of Dnipropetrovsk-Dubai flights for September 2013, but failed to start the flights due to the refusal of the Ukrainian airport. “Unlike the Russian regional airports that operate internationally and are always looking for customers, we faced the fact that they do not only encourage airlines, but also do not want to launch Flydubai flights,” Efendi said.
He said that Ukrainian airline Wind Rose, which opened charter flights between Dnipropetrovsk and Dubai, had not faced such problems – it received the necessary slots and permissions to perform flights.
Flydubai is a UAE low-cost airline. It currently performs flights from Dubai to four Ukrainian airports in Kyiv (Zhuliany), Kharkiv, Donetsk and Odesa.
