ICRC Ready to Distribute Russian Aid Even in Terrorist-Held Areas in Eastern Ukraine

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is ready to accept the humanitarian aid sent by Russia to eastern Ukraine even if the supplies cross the border in terrorist-controlled areas, an official with the ICRC regional delegation for Russia, Belarus and Moldova, said on Thursday.

However, the mission requires Kyiv’s official approval, she added. Several media reports suggested on August 13 that the Russian aid convoy could cross the Russia-Ukraine border through the Izvaryne checkpoint in the Luhansk region instead of the Kharkiv region as was planned earlier. The official confirmed that the Red Cross wants Russia to provide a more detailed list of the items in the so-called humanitarian convoy and hasn’t received any details yet.
