In Ukraine, each regional center will have free legal aid centers starting from July 1, 2014, advisor to the President of Ukraine Andriy Portnov told a briefing.
“From July 1, 2014, as a result of the reform of prosecutor’s office all regional centers of Ukraine will have centers of free legal aid. All poor Ukrainians, orphans, homeless, refugees, war veterans and other vulnerable people will receive this assistance,” Portnov said.
According to him, this assistance will include not only counseling, but also drawing up of legal documents, representation in court and full support.
“This will become possible due to the elimination of function of the court representation of citizens by the prosecutor’s office,” Portnov noted.
When asked how much this reform will cost, the advisor to the President replied that it will be known after the draft state budget is prepared for the next year.
