Cabinet of Ministers Plans to Introduce Military Tax

The Cabinet of Ministers intends to introduce a temporary military tax – as additional to the income tax of natural persons to the amount of 1.5%. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk told a briefing at the Cabinet.

“As concerns another temporary tax – this is the military tax of 1.5% – as an additional tax to the income tax of natural persons. All 1.5% will directly go to fund the Armed Forces,” Yatseniuk said.

According to him, the tax, in case of its introduction, will be charged until the year end.

The Ukrainian government is again submitting to parliament the government-proposed bills on amendments to the state budget, tax code and on the gas transportation system.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday: “The government is again submitting to parliament all the bills that Ukraine needs. I am appealing to all MPs, regardless of political color and desire to win the next parliamentary elections, to come to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday and vote for those laws that are necessary for the Ukrainian state”.

Yatseniuk recalled that in the case of adoption of these bills, the state would be able to continue proper funding for the army and also have the money to restore the liberated towns in eastern Ukraine. “And we will receive $1.5 billion from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank,” he said.

“The government proposes to ban all types of checks except for the inspections of the State Fiscal Service, as well as those, which need a personal decision of the government,” the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.

He noted that today, besides the tax inspection, business suffers from 80 different inspections “basically raising money for their pockets and in no positive way affecting development of the Ukrainian economy.”
