Ukraine Appeals to UNESCO

Ukraine requests assistance in preserving its cultural heritage in the occupied by Russia territory of Crimean peninsula.

This question was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsya with UNESCO Director-General Iryna Bokova at the 195th session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris.

Particular attention was paid to the elaboration of the general algorithm of action for the conservation and protection of Ukrainian cultural and natural environment and scientific heritage in the occupied by Russia territory of the Crimean peninsula, ensuring sustainable operation of educational and scientific institutions.

Earlier UNESCO declared unwillingness to transfer the archaeological park Chersonesos in Crimea to the competence of Russia.
